Our Story

Hi! My name is Tanya MacGregor and I am the founder and creator of every Island Girl Hat!

I grew up on Prince Edward Island, off the coast of Canada, where I loved spending the long summer days on the beach. When we weren't on the beach, we were watching - and helping - my father with his horses. 

My life long passion of horses and beaches had one thing in common: a lot of sun exposure!

Those two parts of my life collided when my mom was diagnosed with skin cancer due to - you guessed it! - all the time we had spent in the sun. As an adult now, I love being able to create fun hats that keep you shaded from the sun and show off each and every customer's unique personality! 

I spend hours on the hunt for the perfect broaches, ties, and trinkets to personalize each hat. I enjoy finding unique pieces and trims from all over North America.

My mom was my best friend and the inspiration behind each of my hats. I know she would be proud of Island Girl Hats' mission to mix fashion and UV protection. 

I would like to thank all my friends and family who have been my biggest supporters as I embarked on this new adventure.
